Dominique Crenn is co-owner and chef at the three Michelin star restaurant Atelier Crenn, in San Francisco, where art is avant-garde, cuisine is craft and community is inspiration.

She grew up in French Brittany; passion for cuisine is part of her DNA. Her parents are great lovers of haute cuisine, her best friend is a renowned French gastronomy critic, and since she was very young, they used to explore together the best restaurants in the region.

In 1998, she moved to San Francisco, where she worked at Stars under the guidance of Jeremiah Tower and Mark Franz. She was the first female executive chef in Jakarta, Indonesia. Here, she led the kitchen of the International Hotel. In 2008, back to San Francisco, she was chef the cuisine at Luce. Just a year later, she gained her first Michelin star.

In January 2011, she launched Atelier Crenn, the perfect place to unlock her heritage: an ode to the culinary poetry. In October 2011, the restaurant received its first Michelin star. In 2012, Dominique doubles. Two Michelin star and first woman awarded with the two stars in the US. In 2018, she gained a new record and the Michelin stars are now three!

Undisputed protagonist of the second season of the Netflix series Chef Table, in 2016 and 2017 the James Beard Foundation appointed her as Best Chef in America and she received the award of the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

In 2017, Atelier Crenn ranked No. 83 among the best restaurants in the world and No. 35 in the ranking of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Only a year before, the James Beard Foundation awarded Dominque the title Best Chef: West.

In the meanwhile, she opened her second restaurant – Petit Crenn, in San Francisco – and Bar Crenn, a wine bar paying tribute to the Parisian halls of the early twentieth century. awarded in 2018 with a Michelin star. She is author of the book Atelier Crenn: Metamorphosis of Taste and she opened Boutique Crenn at the Salesforce Tower of San Francisco. Here, among food, wine, coffee, fashion and art she challenges her customers to dwell on origins of their purchases, in order to make choices based on the product’s quality and the overall total impact of their choices. She keeps on participating in meetings, conferences, panels. Moreover, she is an active, open member of the international gastronomic community by promoting innovation, sustainability and equality through her partnerships with organizations such as the Basque Culinary Center and Pan American Development Foundation.

She is not the little girl sitting to have dinner, enchanted by the complexity and appeal of fine cuisine, not any longer. However, her childhood’s memories are still the leitmotiv of her culinary art.
