SUNDAY 23th FEB 20

Childhood spent in Canada, with a high Officer father and a mother who made pasta, roast chicken and salads. From Ottawa to Toronto and then to New York University to study Cultural Anthropology. In New York it was double love at first sight: for her husband and for food Anthropology. Then the travels, Hong Kong and Los Angeles among many, and back to New York. A disappointing meal– twenty similar salads during a vegetarian tasting – and then the intuition: exploring high level vegetarian cuisine.

It was time to learn, experiment, get to work. And then, in 2008, she opens Dirt Candy. Only a few seats, a basement and four people working with her. In 2015, she moved to the heart of the Lower East Side. A road made of commitment, tenacity, creativity and pride for an accurate, surprising cuisine, very close to Alain Passard style. This leads to a comic book – Dirt Candy: a cookbook, the stage of Iron Chef America and the two stars given by The New York Time, something that did not occur for 17 years for a vegetarian restaurant.

On Sunday 23rd February Amanda Cohen arrives in the kitchen of VIVA. The brigade is looking forward to welcoming her, for an INCREDIBLE VIVA experience!
